WEST WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — A man has been charged with child abuse for allegedly lodging an object deep inside his 6-week-old daughter’s throat.
WJAR-TV reports that 34-year-old Ronald Bliss turned himself in Monday to West Warwick Police.
He made an initial appearance in District Court and was released on $20,000 personal recognizance with a no-contact order.
He did not enter a plea, and his lawyer, Arthur Parise said he could not yet comment on the case.
Detective Capt. Ernest Lavigne told the station that officers responded to a call at an apartment last month found the girl choking. She was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where the object was removed. He did not give details about what was in her throat.
