Police have charged a Hartford man with numerous weapons offenses after they say he was spotted Sunday night during a patrol by the city’s Shooting Task Force.

It was a little before 10:00 p.m. when task force officers and agents say they spotted 35-year-old Tyrone Coleman in the area of Albany Avenue and Edgewood Street.

Officers say when Coleman spotted them, he began adjusting a weighted item in the front pouch of his sweatshirt.

Coleman attempted to quickly enter a corner store, at which point law enforcement officers secured his hands and retrieved a firearm.

They say Coleman was allegedly packing a loaded .25-caliber pistol.

A convicted felon, Coleman is charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and possession within 1,500 feet of a school.

He’s being held on $500,000 bond.
