HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _
A lawsuit filed by the state and its attorney general alleges Karen Lewis misappropriated more than $200,000 in funds that were intended to support a neighborhood in Hartford.
Lewis was director of the now-defunct South Arsenal Neighborhood Development, Inc. from 2001 through 2009. She is accused of using its money on trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
Attorney General George Jepsen said Tuesday that such conduct cannot be tolerated.
The lawsuit filed seeks the forfeiture of the money and civil penalties as well as an injunction against Lewis’ employment with other charities.
Lewis could not immediately be reached for comment on the allegations.
