State Police today said mechanical failure is to blame for an accident at the Norwalk Oyster Festival.
Lieutenant Paul Vance says troopers examined the ride.
“All the safety components of the ride were intact and operational,” Vance said. “Mechanical failure is what caused the ride to seize, and stop.”
When the ride malfunctioned, customers dangling in seats on the ends of chains smashed into each other.
Thirteen people were taken to area hosptials. Twelve of them were treated and released. The other needed more medical care.
