CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Food Bank is hoping to highlight the issue of hunger in a colorful way.
Gov. Maggie Hassan will speak outside the Statehouse on Thursday to proclaim September “Hunger Action Month” in New Hampshire. Thursday also has been dubbed “Go Orange Day,” and food bank officials are urging supporters to wear orange and turn their social media profiles orange.
According to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, one in nine New Hampshire residents is food insecure, and the number of seniors and children in need is rising.
