Branford police say an argument over a missing cell phone became physical Sunday morning,  as one participant was hit with a baseball bat when he tried to force his way into the other man’s trailer.  When he got the bat away,  the other man then pulled out a rifle-style BB gun and chased the first man into the parking lot.  Both men were arrested.

Police say 29-year-old Edward Schmidt thought his neighbor, 42-year-old Edward Crum had his cell phone, touching off the dispute.  Police charged both with breach of peace and assault,  and Crum with an additional charge of threatening.

As police processed Schmidt,  they observed small items,  including knives, jewelry,  phone chargers and a prescription bottle.  Shortly afterwards, they were called to Beechwood Road in Branford,  where those items had been reported stolen from cars.  He was charged with two additional charges of larceny.
