Two Arrested After School Finds Child With Burned Foot

Danbury police are holding two adults after school authorities and the Department of Children and Families reported serious injuries to the left foot of an eight-year-old-child.  The child had blisters and other injuries serious enough to require hospital treatment.

Police say the child first said a male visitor to his home had placed something in his shoe, then,  tried to change the story after a visit by a female relative.  But police determined the evidence supported the original account.

The woman,  30-year-old Vilma Samaniego,  is charged with interfering with police,  hindering prosecution, and risk of injury to a minor.  Police identified the man as 44-year-old Nelson Samaniego of New Haven.  He’s charged with assault, cruelty to persons and risk of injury to a minor,  and is held in lieu of a quarter million dollars bond.
