Man Charged In Deadly Police Chase Crash In Brookfield
BROOKFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ A 25-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal accident in Brookfield during a high-speed police chase.
State police arrested Eric Sciarretta of Waterbury on Monday. He was also charged with reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and operating without insurance.
Troopers say Sciarretta sped away Sunday evening from a routine police seat belt check at an on-ramp to Interstate 84 in Danbury. Authorities say he crashed into an SUV after exiting Route 7 in Brookfield.
The crash killed the driver and injured a passenger in the SUV. The driver’s name hasn’t been released.
The News-Times reports (http://bit.ly/16Go3tq ) Sciarretta is being held on $300,000 bail after being arraigned Monday in Danbury Superior Court.
