East Haven Woman Cleared In Dog Stabbing

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A jury has found a Connecticut woman not guilty in the 2011 stabbing of her dog.

Michelle Masella of East Haven was charged with stabbing her boxer three times. The dog survived and is with a new owner.

The New Haven Register reports that Masella said her ex-boyfriend stabbed the dog. She conceded on cross-examination that she wanted the man to go to jail for punching her, but said she would not hurt her dog to get back at him.

The jury delivered the verdict on Friday.

Masella told police the dog came running out of a park hear her house with a knife sticking out of its chest.

Police said the ex-boyfriend denied stabbing the dog.
