Victim of Fatal Workplace Accident Identified

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ The employee killed in a fatal worksite accident in Stamford is being identified.
O&G Industries confirmed Wednesday that 59-year-old Francisco Dossantos, a nine-year veteran employee of the company, died Tuesday at O&G’s plant on Canal Street. It is an industrial site for asphalt manufacturing and distribution.

O&G said it appeared Dossantos was struck by a frontend loader that he was walking behind. O&G said an initial investigation showed the safety equipment on the loader was operational and Dossantos was wearing the appropriate protective equipment.

The company said all the employees involved in Tuesday’s accident had all the required certifications and training. The site had received a safety inspection hours before the incident.

In a written statement, O&G said everyone at the company was deeply saddened by the death of Dossantos.
