National media have covered a marriage proposal at a Rock Cats baseball game ever since the woman said “no”  and ran off the field last week. . .  but now,  a release on the Rock Cats website comes clean. . . the proposal was actually a Rock Cats promotion,  and the whole drama was staged.

YouTube video of the proposal has been covered by news media as far away as the London Daily Mail,  but Rock Cats Vice President of Marketing Mike Abramson says it was a stunt,  prompted by a previous proposal,  after which the marketing team discussed what would happen if the answer were no.

The would-be-groom and the runaway bride are actually employees of the team,  which Abramson says  then worked on a digital strategy to push the video of the stunt viral.
