Man’s Body Found In Middlefield River

An autopsy is planned on the body of a man pulled from the Coginchaug River in Middlefield on Sunday. Officers from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Environmental Conservation Police learned about the body from a park patron around 3 p.m.

The body was found off Cherry Hill Road near Wadsworth Falls State Park. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was taken to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for positive identification and confirmation of the cause of death.
