State Fire Marshall Investigating Overnight Fire

SEYMOUR, Conn. (AP) _ The state fire marshal is investigating what may be a fatal overnight fire in Seymour.

Fire officials say the blaze broke out just before 2 a.m. Wednesday in a garage on Davis Street and spread to the home.

Lt. J. Paul Vance, a state police spokesman, says the state fire marshal was asked to assist after what may be human remains were found in the debris from the fire.

He says earlier reports that the major crime squad was involved are not accurate.

Local fire officials say there is an active police investigation.
