Not Guilty Pleas for Alleged Cop Shooter

DANIELSON, Conn. (AP) _ A public defender has entered not guilty pleas on behalf of a Willimantic man charged with shooting a police officer inside a home where the suspect’s father was found dead.

The Bulletin of Norwich reports  that 34-year-old Andrew Samuolis appeared Friday in Danielson Superior Court. His public defender, Claudia Jones, entered not guilty pleas to multiple charges including attempted assault on a police officer, threatening and illegal discharge of a firearm.

Police say Samuolis fired at several police officers in his home last month. One officer was shot but survived.
Authorities later found John Samuolis dead in the house.

Andrew Samuolis hasn’t been charged in his father’s death. Police are still investigating.

Samuolis is being detained on $1 million bail. His court case was continued to Sept. 6.
