SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) _ A Connecticut bicyclist was struck by a car and killed while riding his bike on Route 1 in South Kingstown.
WPRI-TV reports that the 84-year-old man was riding around 5 p.m. Thursday when he was struck.
Police from Charlestown arrived first and performed CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at South County Hospital.
Police did not immediately release the man’s name, but said he is from Canton, Conn.
They say no charges have been filed against the driver, who stopped after hitting the bicyclist and who police said was cooperating.
