Pedestrians Hit In Branford, One Was In A Wheelchair

Two women suffered life-threatening injuries today, when they were struck by a car driven by an 87-year-old woman at a West Main Street shopping plaza in Branford.

“At the exit nearest short beach road, a woman driving a car struck a person in a wheelchair, who was being assisted by a second person,” said Police Captain Geoff Morgan.

The woman who was walking went over the car’s hood.

The woman in the wheelchair went underneath the blue sedan, and was run over.  She lives a short distance from the shopping plaza.

They were walking into the shopping plaza, when they were hit.

No charges have been filed in the crash, but the investigation continues.
