Four Officers Released After Treatment For Smoke Inhalation

Four Bridgeport Police officers suffered smoke inhalation during a fire on Poplar Street Wednesday.  All have since been released from the hospital.

Authorities described the fire as a difficult and dangerous one for firefighters.  Both the first and second floors were fully involved when crews arrived,  and bystanders told them there might still be children inside.  Three searches of the home were conducted.

Officers John Carrano, Carlos Pabon, John Topolski and Matthew Goncalves all were treated for smoke inhalation suffered while helping evacuate residents of the home at 181 Poplar and the building next door.
