NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ New Haven is dedicating a new public safety boat to deal with any emergencies in its harbor.
On Monday, the vessel will be dedicated and commissioned for use.
The Department of Homeland Security awarded New Haven a grant to buy the vessel and the city’s public schools held a contest to name it.
A fifth grade student picked the winning name and it will be announced at Monday’s ceremony.
The event will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Long Wharf Pier.
Mayor John DeStefano Jr. plans to attend, along with U.S. Coast Guard, police and fire officials.
