Firefighters rescued a man who fell into a quarry early this morning in Portland.
Fire Chief Robert Shea says the man suffered leg injurie, and firefighters carried him up a path.
“We were able to get down to the patient on an access trail that was much more southern, where we did not have to repel down, in a high angle type of rescue,” Shea said.
Some parts of the path were treacherous, and heavy rain made it more difficult to be rescued.
About 2 am, the man had fallen about 35-feet down an embankment, and ended up near the water. A companion called 911.
The quarry is located near Willow Street.
