HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy is launching a new initiative to try and boost manufacturing in Connecticut.
The Democrat is scheduled to meet Tuesday with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and leaders of the state’s manufacturing community to discuss what federal policies are needed to grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut. It will be the first meeting of the group, which will announce how it plans to proceed in the future.
A roundtable discussion and a news conference are planned on Tuesday at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. Scheduled participants include the president of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and the president of the Connecticut State Council of Machinists.
Murphy touted his concerns about manufacturing jobs during his 2012 run for the U.S. Senate.
