Driver Dead After Traffic Crash Suffered Chest Injury Before the Collision

State Police are investigating what they’re calling a suspicious death.

Just after midnight, troopers and EMS were called to an accident on Plainfield Pike, Route 14-A east of Church Street in the town of Sterling.

Investigators found a car that had been involved in a crash with the operator dead inside.

Meantime, troopers had responded to a secondary scene where a verbal dispute had apparently taken place where the driver was initially injured.

They says the operator had a chest injury not related to the crash.

The name of the dead person is has not been released pending family notification and a post mortem exam scheduled for Tuesday.
