Suspicious Vehicle Call Ends with 2 Drug Arrests

Two men have been arrested after Torrington Police were called to Berry Street Friday afternoon on the report of a suspicious vehicle.When police arrived about 2 p.m. they found the vehicle parked facing the wrong way and  24 year old Gary Hall of Naugatuck behind the wheel.

As police talked with Hall they say 29 year old  James Tripp of Waterbury  approached the car and tossed  a container  into the vehicle. Inside the container  was 3  ounces of cocaine.

As officers  tried to take Tripp into custody he fought, causing minor injuries to  two of  the officers.Tripp then fled. Several schools in the area were  placed into lockdown  as a precaution as police  searched for  Tripp.

Tripp was spotted in the area of Pulaski  Street   about 3:15 p.m.  and was apprehended after a brief struggle.

Tripp is facing  numerous  narcotics charges along with  two counts of Assault on a Police Officer, Interfering with a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.He is being held in lieu of a half million dollars bond.

Hall is being held on five thousand dollars bond on narcotics charges. His car has been seized.
