Official Announcement Of Return To Wolf Pack Name

Madison Square Garden,  owners of the Hartford American Hockey League franchise,  and Global Spectrum, operators of the team and of the XL Center, has announced that the AHL team,  which has played as the Connecticut Whale for three seasons,  will return to the name Hartford Wolf Pack for the 2013-2014 season.

The move by the New York Rangers AHL affiliate had been expected.  Assistant General Manager Jim Schoenfeld says the return to the Hartford Wolf Pack name “signifies a return to the roots” of the franchise and emphasizes the teams ties to the Hartford community.

Global Spectrum named Chris Lawrence to be the General Manager of the Wolf Pack, XL Center and Rentschler Field. , Lawrence,  captain of the  NCAA Frozen Four Champion Michigan State Spartans in 2007,  was previously general manager of the Glens Falls Civic Center, home of the Philadelphia Flyers AHL-affiliate, Adirondack Phantoms.
