Milford Man Sentenced In Kidnap-Murder Of East Haven Woman

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (AP) _ A 26-year-old Connecticut man has been sentenced to life in prison for the March 2011 kidnapping and murder of a female co-worker in Rhode Island.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced that Zachary Lapelusa  of Milford, Conn. was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty. He also received 20 years for kidnapping.

Authorities say Lapelusa confronted 35-year-old Antoinette Venditti Bruce in a hotel parking lot in Middletown, forced her into her vehicle and fatally stabbed her before dumping her body in a ditch. Middletown police arrested Lapelusa after a car and foot chase.

Investigators say Lapelusa and Bruce had a work-related dispute at a Christmas Tree Shops outlet in Avon, Conn.

Bruce was a resident of East Haven, Conn.
