Pursuit Ends With Surrender

A suspect in the Monday night shooting death  of Qussan McKoy outside  the Haven Market at Chapel Street and Derby Avenue led New Haven Police  on a  pursuit  Wednesday afternoon.It ended  in the rear of 802 George Street, where the suspect,Shaune Meyers pointed a gun at  a pursuing Officer.The Officer  fired at Meyers, who was not struck.

Meyers then dropped his gun and  fled to 1 Norton Street where he kicked in an apartment door and hid inside.

Officers surrounded the building  and the New Haven Police Department S.W.A.T. Team was called.But before they arrived Meyers surrendered.

Meyers told Detectives he was under the influence of  Angel Dust and   complained of breathing difficulties.

He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital  for evaluation.

New Haven Police will release additional information Thursday afternoon.
