The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is advising residents that the fire danger level in Connecticut is HIGH for today.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning until 8PM.  The warnings are typically given when winds are gusty or sustained at around 25 MPH.

Because of windy conditions and dry brush, DEEP says burn permits are not valid today.

DEEP is advising residents to protect their homes by, among other things, making a fire safe zone around the house, not storing firewood in that zone, removing dead brush, and following local burning laws.
