New Sexual Assault Charges Filed In Torrington

Torrington Police arrested a 17-year-old boy today, on charges of sexual assault in the second degree, and risk of injury to a minor.

The arrest is part of an investigation into a sexual assault in the city in January.

Torrington Police said they could not discuss details of the case, because the arrest warrant has been sealed.  They say they are working with the city’s superintendent of schools on the investigation.

Previously, two 18-year-old Torrington High School students who were members of the school’s football team, were charged with sexual assault in cases involving two 13-year-old girls.

Edgar Gonzalez and Joan Toribio face charges because the girls were underage.

An unnamed 17-year-old boy was also previously charged with sexual assault.

Torrington High School football players have recently been charged with taking part in a robbery, and got in trouble in a hazing incident.
