Branford Police say an elementary school was locked down for a time today after a report of a confrontation nearby involving display of an alleged weapon.

Police called to the scene at number 4 Brushy Plaza found the suspect had fled the area.  Because the Mary Murphy school is located nearby,  at number 14,  they coordinated a lockdown with school officials.  They stressed the school itself was not involved.
