New Haven police are charging an 18-year-old man with firing a shot in a school parking lot Monday night.

Officers say they were alerted by several fans who were leaving a basketball game at Wilbur Cross High School just before eight o’clock.

A father and his 17-year-old son were walking to their car when they encountered several young men fighting, according to police.  Three of the combatants, one of whom allegedly fired the shot, zeroed in on the teen and his father.  Under arrest is Trea Fraser.  Detectives say he’d apparently had a beef with the intended victim.  He faces a host of charges including criminal attempt to commit assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Officers say when arrested, Fraser had a pair of cell phones, a black mask, and drug packaging material.
