Hartford Councilman Wants Freeze On Hiring, OT Pay

Hartford City Councilman Kenneth Kennedy is calling for a citywide freeze on hiring and overtime pay unless approved by the council as the capitol city attempts to battle a staggering projected budget deficit.

The Hartford Courant reports Kennedy was troubled by the almost $10 million budget shortfall this year and a shortfall down the road of up to $82.3 million by 2016-17.

Kennedy’s proposal will introduced to the council at Monday’s meeting.
