School Locked Down In Pursuit Of Car Thief

A private school in Westport was locked down Friday afternoon after a stolen vehicle was spotted in a rear lot.  Police say a local resident called them mid-morning saying that as she was returning home, she spotted a stran ge vehicle in her driveway while a man she did not know was driving her second vehicle away from the home.

She followed,  relaying the location to police, who tried to stop the driver.  The driver refused to stop, and headed onto Interstate 95, where police lost sight of it between exits  19  and 20.  Fairfield Police spotted the vehicle and pursued it on local roads back into Westport,  where they lost it in the Greens Farms area.

When the vehicle was found near the Greens Farms School,  the school was locked down while the grounds and buildings were searched by officers with dogs.  They did not find the suspect,  and determined that he had stolen a third vehicle and fled.
