Injuries In Crash Involving Family Members On Foot

There were injuries in a crash involving pedestrians and a vehicle in Milford today.

Officer Jeffrey Nielsen said four people were walking in the area, although it was not immediately clear how many of them were injured.

“The pedestrians are a family of four and I believe the sidewalks were not cleared yet, roadways are still being cleared,” Nielsen said in an email.

Milford Police initially asked drivers to stay away from Bridgeport Avenue near Cowles Street, but Bridgeport Avenue has now reopened.  Bridgeport Avenue is Route 1.

In towns across the state, people on foot have been forced to walk in roadways, because some sidewalks have not been cleared.  Many streets are narrow, because plows were unable to push all of the snow all the way out of the roadway.

Earlier in the day, State Police Lieutenant Paul Vance said “With the sidewalks not being plowed, many pedestrians are walking in the roadway.  With slippery road conditions, they are certainly in great danger.”
