Governor To Declare State Of Emergency

The Governor’s Office says Governor Malloy will declare a state of emergency in preparation for the coming blizzard,  and may close limited access highways as early as noon.  He asked all residents to limit nonessential travel.

A state of emergency will grant the governor a number of emergency powers,  including the ability to order civil preparedness forces into action,  to designate routes and movements for individuals and vehicles,  and ability to modify or suspend any state statute.

He called on state residents to take the storm seriously.   If current predictions are accurate, we will need people to stay off the roads so that emergency personnel and utility crews can get to the places they need to get to, and to make sure that our plows can keep critical roadways clear.”
