Nonessential State Employees Should Remain Home Friday

Hear the governor’s remarks:

Governor Malloy says the state is gearing up for the blizzard forecast Friday into Saturday. His plan plan is to open the Emergency Operations Center at 9 a.m. Friday.

The governor says the Department of Transportation is pre-treating roads and bridges around the state,  and all state plow equipment is ready to roll.  He’s urging local governments to make sure they have plans to keep critical local roads clear throughout the storm.

Governor Malloy is asking all nonessential state employees  to stay at home  Friday. However , evening and midnight shift employees  should report to work as normal Friday.

The University of Connecticut has cancelled classes statewide and has also ordered all non-essential employees to stay home.

The Department of Motor Vehicles is closed Friday as are all Connecticut courts.

Utility companies are making preparations, and are bringing in out-of-state crews.
