About seventy members of the Connecticut National Guard’s 143rd Batallion are leaving for Southwest Asia.  The Waterbury-based unit will provide  operational, logistical and personnel support for combat forces,  the way it did in its 2006 deployment to Iraq.

A sendoff for the 143rd is planned Tuesday at the O’Neill State Armory.
