UConn To Host Forum On Counterfeit Electronics

STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ Military and university researchers are gathering at the University of Connecticut to review ways to beat counterfeit electronics that jeopardize transportation, utilities and financial and military systems.

Reliable hardware is critical for food, water, information, energy and manufacturing processes. UConn says hardware is vulnerable to malicious hacking, poor production quality or backdoors to get information, counterfeit products and to steal programs and products.

UConn’s Center for Hardware Assurance, Security and Engineering is home to a research team of hardware and software specialists who are developing new hardware technologies, design and detection techniques and other tools to improve U.S. hardware security.

Representatives of NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense Missile Defense Agency, Institute for Defense Analysis and others will discuss counterfeit electronics in workshops on Monday and Tuesday at UConn’s Storrs campus.
