New Haven Police Investigate Fatal Shooting

New Haven Police say a man believed to be the owner of the Orchard Street Market was shot and killed in an apparent robbery this morning.

Police were called to the market on the corner of Orchard and Henry Streets shortly before 11.  They found 55-year-old Abdul Rawas, who had been shot in the back and the arm.  He was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
