NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A man accused of abducting his 1-year-old daughter from her mother’s home in New Haven will be arraigned in state court.
Robert Williamson Jr. is scheduled to appear before a New Haven Superior Court judge Thursday on a reckless endangerment charge. Police expect to add more charges.
Wednesday morning’s kidnapping prompted a statewide Amber Alert.
Police say the girl was in a baby sitter’s care at her mother’s home when Williamson knocked on the door, barged in when the baby sitter opened it and took the child in violation of restraining orders. Authorities say Williamson called the girl’s mother and threatened to kill himself and the child.
Family and friends helped police locate Williamson and he later surrendered without incident. The girl wasn’t harmed.
Williamson is being detained.
