MERCER, Maine (AP) — A central Maine man is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the foot after hunting.

The Maine Warden Service said 37-year-old Andrew Knight of Rome was returning from the woods to meet with family members after a hunting outing Saturday when he rested his 12-gauge shotgun on his left foot. Knight told officials the gun then discharged, firing buckshot into his foot.

Authorities say Knight was taken by ambulance to Inland Hospital in Watervillle, where he was reported in stable condition.
