Christie: Murphy “Might As Well Be Nancy Pelosi’s Butler”

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, appearing with fellow Republican Linda McMahon in her campaign for U.S. Senate in Connecticut, slammed her opponent, Democratic Congressman Chris Murphy, as so partisan “he might as well be Nancy Pelosi’s butler.”

Christie who appeared with the former wrestling executive in Stamford on Monday, portrayed McMahon as someone who can work across party lines.
McMahon is in a close race against Murphy. They are vying for the seat held by the retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman, an independent.

Murphy, who has pointed to his work on the congressional Center Aisle Caucus that seeks to promote civility, said Republicans are campaigning for McMahon because they want her to fight President Obama over the next four years if he gets re-elected. He rejected arguments that she’s an independent thinker.
