New Canaan Man Killed By Colorado Rockslide

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) _ Rescuers have recovered the body of a Connecticut man killed by a rockslide on Hagerman Peak near Snowmass Mountain.

The Aspen Times  said the body of 24-year-old Rob Jansen of New Canaan, Conn., was recovered on Monday by a National Guard helicopter from the High-Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site in Eagle.

Rescue crews were called to the scene Saturday afternoon after reports of two injured hikers, one with chest wounds and the other with a broken ankle. When they arrived, the hiker with the chest injuries was dead.

The 13,800-foot Hagerman Peak rises above Snowmass Lake and is about 11 miles from Aspen.
