A general assembly primary held Tuesday wound up in a tie between two of the candidates.
There will be a recount after Leo Canty and Brandon McGee each received 774 votes in the race for the fifth district democratic house nomination in Hartford and Windsor.
The 116th district covering new haven and west haven had a margin of only 11 votes, and it also qualifies for an automatic recount.
Av Harris in the secretary of the state’s office says it shows that every vote really does matter.
“When you see a result of an election where one vote makes a difference, or if it is a tied election, it only underscores that every vote truly does count,” Harris said.
Town clerks have until Tuesday to complete the recounts.
