Police Warn Of ATM Scam

West Haven police are asking the public for help in identifying a woman in a check scam operating at local ATMs,  and are warning the public about the crime.

Police say in the past two weeks,  a woman has approached customers at the ATM of a local bank, asking the customer to cash a check for her,  and to deposit the check.  The checks,  which are believed to have been stolen, are on closed accounts,  and bounce.

Police released a security camera image of the woman.  They say she appears to be targeting young customers and those from other countries.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fraud Unit of the West Haven Police Department, 203-937-3958.
