McMahon, Shays Face Off In Final Senate Debate

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Former wrestling executive Linda McMahon, the endorsed Republican in Connecticut’s Senate race, says she will release her tax returns when they are finished.

The issue of tax returns was raised Wednesday during a live, televised debate on NBC Connecticut.

McMahon’s GOP rival in the Aug. 14 primary, former U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays, said McMahon’s decision not to immediately release her 2011 tax returns shows she has “no respect” for the political process. He also took issue with McMahon refusing not to participate in pre-primary interviews with newspaper editorial boards or agreeing to more debates. He said she prefers “scripted” events.

McMahon shot back, saying she prefers meeting directly with the voters and listening to their concerns. McMahon also contends she has released all the financial information required under federal election law.
