Woman Sexually Assaulted in Danielson

A woman was sexually assaulted at 3:30 a.m. near the Brooklyn Bridge in Danielson.

State Police arrived on the scene in response to a 911 call. A woman at the intersection of Route 6 and Katherine Avenue said she had just been raped.

The woman was taken to Day Kimball Hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe that the woman was walking near the Brooklyn Bridge when she heard cries for help coming from the river overlook area. She went to help and was attacked by a man and sexually assaulted. After the assault the man fled the scene on foot.

Investigators say the suspect is 50-60 years old, about 5’9” tall, with a thin build. He was wearing dark clothing.

State police ask anyone who has any information, or who may have been in the area at the time of the assault to contact Detectives at Troop D at (860) 779-4900 or the Troop D Crime Tips Hotline at (860) 779-4944. All calls will be kept confedential.
