FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ Police say a 10-year-old Bridgeport girl has died after being pulled from Lake Mohegan.

Fire officials say she was underwater for more than 30 minutes before she was found at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The Hartford Courant reports that the lake had been closed Tuesday because of bacteria levels, and that the area where the girl was found is usually closed to swimmers.

Her identity has not been released.
