WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ A middle-aged man is dead and several people were forced from their home after an early morning fire in Waterbury.

Waterbury fire officials say the fire was reported in a three-family home on Griggs Street at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

The say one victim suffered serious burns and was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

WTIC-TV reports the man may have been visiting the home and fire officials say he was on the second floor when the fire started.
