Fatal Fire In Waterbury

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ A middle-aged man is dead and several people were forced from their home after an early morning fire in Waterbury.

Waterbury fire officials say the fire was reported in a three-family home on Griggs Street at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

The say one victim suffered serious burns and was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

WTIC-TV reports the man may have been visiting the home and fire officials say he was on the second floor when the fire started.

No other injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting five other residents of the home.

It was not immediately clear what started the fire.
