NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (CBS Connecticut) – Note to marijuana-smoking Denny’s enthusiasts who are short on cash: It might not be a good idea to attempt to pay for a meal with a bag of weed.
Police are in the process of tracking down a Niagara Falls man who allegedly offered to pay for his sub-$10 meal at a local Denny’s on Saturday with a bag of marijuana before attempting to sell it to other customers to help pay his bill.
The Buffalo News reports that an unidentified man ordered a meal from a Denny’s restaurant totaling $9.91 at around 2 a.m. Saturday. The man was short on cash and decided to do the next practical thing, offering the cashier a bag of marijuana and $1 as payment for his meal.
Police told the Buffalo News that after the cashier turned down the man’s proposal, the man would go around the restaurant and attempt to sell the bag, hoping to get enough money to pay for his Denny’s meal. When the cashier went to call the police, the man fled into the nearby woods.
Media reports indicate that an employee at the Denny’s passed on the man’s name and info to police. The investigation is ongoing.
