Brawl Erupts At Arraignment For Suspect In Teen’s Death

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ A judge has cleared a courtroom at Waterbury Superior Court after a brawl erupted during the arraignment of one of two men charged in connection with the death of a pregnant 17-year-old.

Twenty-year-old Eric Delbuono was being arraigned on an assault charge Monday morning when authorities say his father began punching another man. Officials say Delbuono’s father was arrested. Court resumed about an hour later.

Police say Delbuono and 29-year-old Justin Skipwith got into a fight in Waterbury on Saturday night, and Skipwith sped away in an SUV and struck Brianna Washington of Waterbury. She died early Sunday. Authorities allege Delbuono became angry when Skipwith stopped his SUV to talk with Delbuono’s girlfriend and Washington.

Skipwith is charged with first-degree manslaughter and other crimes.
