Phones Back In Avon After Suspected Fiber Break

Most telephone service was restored shortly after 3 p.m.  for police, town hall and some business and residential customers in Avon after going out sometime Sunday evening. Police say 911 service continued through the outage,  with calls routed to Farmington.

An apparent break in a fiber line is blamed.  It’s estimated about 1,500  customers were affected.

Businesses along Route 44 were affected,  and were unable to run credit cards for purchases.
